Schilkie brings full resume to president of Greater Sudbury Hotel Association

The first president of the fledgling Greater Sudbury Hotel Association is no stranger to the local hotel industry.

Jana Schilkie, owner of Jana Hospitality Consulting, has been involved in the industry for approximately 25 years.

Schilkie, who has a public relations degree, a communications degree and fundraising experience, also operates a boutique with a strong Toronto flavor.

Schilkie’s portfolio includes independent restaurants, franchises, nightclubs, food services, Airbnbs, real estate agents, building associations, equipment rental companies, medical associations and mortgage brokers.

Schilkie primarily launches creative campaigns while maintaining

cost savings. Campaigns involve marketing, event planning/fundraising, social media management, graphic design, promotions, media relations, staffing, website management, launches, live music bookings and community relations.

“I always knew I wanted to be a restaurant- or nightclub-focused entrepreneur, also taking business classes and writing a few business plans with some pretty neat brick-and-mortar concepts,” Schilkie said. in a press release. “At the end of the day, I’m really lucky to have my hospitality consulting business and to have been elected to lead the Greater Sudbury Hotel Association.

“Currently, I work side-by-side with my clients and members on various hospitality passion projects listening to everyone’s interests equally and executing to the best of my artistry. Watch for our association’s culinary boom over the next few months, including a Cook-A-Thon, A Taste of Sudbury Food and Drink Festival and a new local staffing model, et cetera.
