Hindu deity to be celebrated at Ganesha Festival in Buffalo Grove’s Willow Stream Park

A Buffalo Grove business will host a public celebration of the Ganesha Festival from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 19 at Willow Stream Park, 651 Old Checker Road.

The free event will celebrate the Hindu deity Lord Ganesha, a god of wisdom and knowledge. The deity is depicted having an elephant head on a human body.

“It’s about education and learning and having a peaceful life,” said Archana Bhide, one of the owners of Pantomath, a Palatine-based tutoring company (pantomath.us) for students of kindergarten to grade 12.

Bhide said she and her husband, Andy Bhide, plan to open a second branch in their Buffalo Grove home.

She said: “This year we thought we would like to involve the community in this festival, because Lord Ganesha is not only related to religious or spiritual things.

The celebration will feature four competitions, including a singing competition, a dance competition, a cooking competition and a Play Doh competition giving contestants the chance to create their own Ganesha figure,

Located at 125 W. Colfax St. in the Palatine, Pantomath teaches English, Math and Science, Coding and Programming, and Piano, Guitar and Voice.
