Governor Greg Gianforte said on Tuesday in no uncertain terms; there will be no warrants in Montana.
No mask warrant; no mandate for vaccination; no government shutdowns; period.
During his press conference at the State Capitol, Gianforte encouraged everyone to get vaccinated, but he pulled the warrants line because he said warrants don’t work.
“The state of Montana will not impose warrants,” Gianforte said. “One of the things we’ve learned over the past 18 months is that government mandates don’t work. Delta Variant cases have increased nationally in states with mask warrants and in states without them. So let me be clear once again. The state of Montana will not impose a mask warrant and the state of Montana will not impose a vaccine warrant. “
Gianforte said he left health decisions to individuals and their families after consultation with their own health care providers.
“I trust the Montanians to make the decisions that are best for their health and that of their loved ones,” he said. “Finally, Montana is open. We will not impose a government-mandated shutdown of our state. The Montanais have returned to their sites, and others are getting back to work. Businesses are recovering, hiring and creating jobs. The best way forward to ensure that we continue to make progress on our recovery is for the Montanians to get vaccinated and, if they are unsure or hesitant, to speak with their healthcare professional about the possibility of. to get vaccinated.
Especially on social media, there is considerable pressure on people who are unsure of the vaccine or who simply refuse to take it. Gianforte had this to say at his press conference.
“People who are reluctant to get vaccinated don’t want a conference,” he said. “They do not respond to signals of morality and virtue. They want to be spoken to with respect. They trust their personal healthcare provider to tell them about the vaccine, answer their questions, clear up any doubts, and provide them with medical advice. “
Further, Gianforte referred to the dismal failure of the Biden administration in its handling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan, saying it was a national and international disgrace.
“Americans and people around the world watch in disbelief the bloody failures of the Biden administration continue,” he said. “The president’s execution of our withdrawal is a national disgrace. This is the sentiment of Democrats, Republicans and Independents across our country, and among elected bipartisans in Washington DC. Those responsible for this debacle should be held accountable. “
Governor Gianforte was also joined by several state health professionals and the director of the state emergency services department.
