Story of Ganesh Chaturthi 2022
According to Hindu scriptures, Goddess Parvati was the creator of Ganpati. In the absence of Lord Shiva, she used her sandalwood paste to create Lord Ganesha and warned him while she was away bathing. While he was away, Lord Shiva fought with Ganesha as he did not allow him to enter, as per his mother’s orders. After asking so many times when Lord Ganesha wouldn’t let him in, Lord Shiva became furious. Enraged, Lord Shiva cut off Ganesha’s head when Goddess Parvati saw this, she transformed into Goddess Kali and threatened to destroy the universe with her wrath.
Everyone got worried and asked Lord Shiva to find a solution and calm Goddess Kali’s rage. Lord Shiva then ordered all his followers to find the head of any child but ensure that the mother of the child turns her back on the child. The very first child that was seen by the disciples was an elephant and they cut off the baby elephant’s head and brought it to the Lord. Lord Shiva immediately placed his head on Lord Ganesha’s body and Lord Shiva regained his life. After seeing Lord Ganesha alive, Goddess Parvati returned to her normal form and all the deities blessed Lord Ganesha and since then this day is celebrated as Ganesh Chaturthi.

The idol is finally submerged in the river/pond or the sea.
The day sees a large number of devotees express their joy and offer their prayers. As visarjan people are still chanting “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudcheya Varshi Lav Karya” which means Oh my Lord Ganpati, we pray and ask you to come back next year with lots of blessings, prosperity and love .
