Five events to discover this week: June 21, 2021


The Reno Rodeo is in 10 gallon hat mode this week, with events taking place nightly at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Event Center with a carnival ahead. Here are five more events taking place in Reno this week.

  1. Free nutrition and cooking classes. Offered by the University of Nevada at Reno, this course offers eight easy lessons to improve the health of your children and family. You will learn delicious and healthy recipes, save time and money, and increase your energy level. In each class you will receive an incentive to take home. Link to information.
  2. Wednesday little wonder. Visit The Discovery every Wednesday for a special morning only for families with children 5 and under. Hear stories, climb the clouds, create art, and enjoy the entire museum for an hour before it opens to all. Link to information.
  3. Charity Trivia with Mary Bennet from the Brüka Theater. The Black Rabbit Mead Company is hosting tonight to support the Brüka Theater after being hit hard by COVID-19 closures. Link to information.
  4. A breath of fresh air: a concert to blow away the COVID blues. The Nevada Gay Men’s Chorus (NGMC) presents their live concert, “A Blast of Fresh Air: A Concert to Blow Away the COVID Blues” with classics that will propel audiences to their favorite memories and moments. Link to information.
  5. Sierra Nevada Guitar Festival – Classical Guitar Competition Finals. This live event features three divisions, two for youth and one for adults, followed by an awards ceremony. Link to information.
