Kiev Ukrainian Dance Festival

The Kiev Ukrainian Dance Ensemble is back with its annual concert at 3 p.m. on October 23 at the Andrew Carnegie Free Music Hall. The production is an anthology of five stories related to love and loss. Artists from the United States, Canada and Ukraine collaborated on the project.

The dance movie premiere of “5” will take place online at 7pm on October 24th.

Back to BASH school

Junior Achievement of Western PA is teaming up with local partners to host a back-to-school BASH from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on October 2 at the JA BizTown premises, located in Abele Business Park in South Fayette. The event aims to provide children with the necessary resources and supplies they need for a successful year.

The first 50 students at the event will receive free backpacks, and additional students will receive tote bags. Students and their families are encouraged to participate in a scavenger hunt through JA’s fully interactive community, JA BizTown, where they will collect school supplies from more than two dozen regional businesses and explore the many career opportunities in our region.

Additionally, guests will enjoy prizes, food and drink, and entertainment including 100.7 Star live DJ, cartoon and balloon artists, magician, face painting, selfie station and more Again.

Participants can also learn about new JA experiences and educational initiatives that promote work preparation, entrepreneurship, and money management skills.

Fundraising for Parks and Recreation

Friends of Collier Parks & Recreation will be hosting a family fundraising dinner at the Bridgeville Alpine Club starting at 5:30 p.m. on October 20. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. The cost is $ 25 per person (reserved tables are available for groups of six or more). The menu consists of soup, salad, vegetables, pasta, chicken parmesan, dessert, taxes and tip. Tickets can be purchased by calling Deb Zymroz at 412-303-1190. Cooking chili

The 14th Annual Bridgeville-South Fayette Chili Bake will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on October 17 at Fairview Park in South Fayette. For more information, contact Natalie Jackson at 412-403-5666.

Road closure

A 200 foot section of block 5100 from Thoms Run Road to Collier will be closed until November. Closure is required for the construction of a retaining wall and the repair of an existing wall.

Traffic will be diverted via Thoms Run and Oakdale Road, Hilltop Road and Forsythe Road. All homes and businesses on Thoms Run Road will be accessible for the duration of the closure.

The $ 180,617 project is being carried out by Pugliano Construction Co., Inc., of Pittsburgh.

Ukrainian cuisine festival

The parish of Sts. The Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Carnegie will host the 10th annual Ukrainian Food Festival from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on October 1 and 2.

The festival will feature delicious home-made Ukrainian food and pastries, a basket raffle, church talks and tours will take place at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. daily.

The Presto at Collier Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a Fire Safety Open House from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on October 3 at Thomas Run Road station. Flea market

The Church of Atonement, 618 Washington Ave. in Carnegie, will be holding a flea market from October 15 to 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Saturday, the sale will end from noon to 1 p.m., when it will reopen for the sale of bags.
