We may be halfway through August already, but if you think summer is almost over, think again.

The season is just beginning with many events you can still attend, from the best music festivals to canine capers, food and floral shows…

Southport Flower Show 2022

Janette and Aljaz from Strictly, Hairy Biker Si King and kids’ favorite Justin Fletcher – aka Mr Tumble – are among the star guests at this year’s Southport Flower Show. The four-day summer festival celebrates all things flora and fauna with stunning show gardens and spectacular displays, as well as entertainment – live music, dog shows and stunt shows among others – and activities for children, including workshops and hands-on activities with Imagine Ce!. There will be over 300 shopping stalls, a fabulous food marquee and tons more… it’s going to be busy.

New Brighton Summer Festival

The New Brighton Summer Festival is back this year from Wednesday August 24th to Monday August 29th. Every day there will be entertainment for all the family with continental themed stalls offering food from around the world, quirky crafts and fairground stalls all bordering the New Brighton prom. The festival will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

International Beatles Week

Over 70 bands from over 20 countries will arrive in Liverpool this month to celebrate the Fab Four. The annual Beatleweek International Festival will take place from Wednesday August 24 to Tuesday August 30, featuring live music, exhibits, memorabilia, guest speakers, video shows, tours and a convention. There will be live music on all three Cavern stages every day and, a highlight of this 36e year, will be a ‘Lennon’ line-up when Earl Slick, Tony Levin and Andy Newmark perform in the ‘Lennon 1980’ show at Philharmonic Hall on Friday, August 26. All three performed on John’s latest studio album, Double Fantasy, as well as sessions for the album Milk and Honey. They will be joined by actor and musician Mark McGann in this special tribute.

Festival of memories

The ultimate Old Skool disco party that everyone loves returns to Sherdley Park on Saturday 10th September. DJ Lee Butler and crew will perform acts on three stages at St Helens Park, with music stars including 2 Unlimited, Rozalla, Baby D, Boyzlife, Five and Liberty X, and top DJs including Dave Pearce, John Cotton , Tall Paul, Anton Powers and Pat Sharp.

It’s the 25the anniversary of the famous dance music festival and the organizers ensured that the silver jubilee event was a good event. Going all out, festival-goers at the event in Daresbury – from Thursday August 25th to Sunday August 28th – can expect to see an incredible line-up which includes (wait for it!): Eric Prydz bringing his HOLO show, Alesso, Becky Hill, Fatboy Slim, MK, Idris Elba, Scooter, Charlotte De Witte, Example, Jax Jones, Chase & Status (DJ Set), Joel Corry, Sonny Fodera, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Pete Tong, Kolsch, Paul Oakenfold, Skepsis, Solardo, Yousef, Paul Van Dyk, Will Sparks, Syreeta and many more.

Liverpool ONE dog show

Radio presenter Leanne Campbell hosts the Liverpool ONE Dog Show when she returns to Chavasse Park on Sunday September 11. It’s a big family event with competitions like Cutest Puppy and Waggiest Tail judged by a panel of dog experts. There will be lots of prizes and tons of fun.

Liverpool Theater Festival

The fabulous award-winning theater festival is back for a third consecutive year from Wednesday August 31st to Sunday September 11th. The action will once again focus on the center of the festival, the iconic bombed-out Church of St Luke, with drama, comedy, opera, cabaret, musical theatre, children’s shows, and more filling a packed schedule. Tickets are already on sale for a number of shows, including the opening show, I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical; a tour of Laughterhouse Comedy on Friday 2 September; You’ll Never Walk Alone, a drama based on the Hillsborough disaster on Friday September 9, and Looking For Me Friend – The Music of Victoria Wood on Sunday September 11.

Scouse Ma’s Big Night

Scouse Ma returns with her for another fabulous evening and this time everyone is welcome for Scouse Ma’s battle of the sexes. She will be joined by Andy Locker, Jack Bennett, Kaci Lynch and Vicki Scott and there will be games , awards, live entertainment and those Naked Butlers, at Ten Street Social on Saturday, August 27, when everyone’s favorite mom will hold court.

La Feria – Latin American Festival

The Latin American Feria

Arts organization LUMA Creations celebrates Latin American arts and culture with La Feria, a four-day festival of dance, musical performances and activities. It starts on Thursday September 23 with ‘Music of the Americas’ at District in the Baltic Triangle, featuring Latin American Lucas Music Award winner Angelica Lopez and her eight-piece band, plus bands from Liverpool, LUMA Quintet and Katumba Bloco – one of leading drum sets in the UK. There will be dancing at the Bombed-Out Church and Liverpool Central Library will host a free family day of performances, workshops, stalls and displays on Friday 24 September.

Closing La Feria on Sunday September 26 will be a collection of street performances in Liverpool city centre.

British Musical Fireworks Championships

Southport’s British Musical Fireworks Championships are back in full swing! The three-night festival runs from Friday 23rd September to Sunday 25th September at Victoria Park, Southport, with fireworks going off to music for the most spectacular fireworks and pyrotechnic experts competing to win the top prize coveted.

The Mowgli Dog Party 2022

The Mowgli Dog Fest will open at Claremont Farm on Saturday and Sunday September 10-12. The event, which raised £43,000 last year for Clare House Children’s Hospice, will feature dog shows, great local food, drinks and craft stalls, plus live music, fairground attractions and children’s activities. The main arena will be hosted by Bongo’s Bingo’s Jonny Bongo with Heart Radio’s Adam Weighell. Again this year all proceeds will go to Clare House.
